Reasons to Celebrate

Untitled-1The wonderful song, The Circle of Life, from the movie, The Lion King, says it well:

It's the Circle of Life and it moves us all
Through despair and hope, through faith and love
Till we find our place on the path unwinding
In the Circle – the Circle of Life.

As La Salette Missionaries, we can be very proud that Mary’s mission to make her message known to all her people is still be carried out in more than twenty-three countries around the world. In our Province of Mary, Mother of the Americas, we have recently celebrated several events for which we should thank God.

We recently celebrated the renewal of vows of Bro. Paul Jussen, M.S., who is istudying at Chicago Theological Union. He renewed his vows at the La Salette Shrine Church in Twin Lakes, Wisconsin. On below left, he renews his vows before Fr. Phil Negley, our Provincial Superior; on right Bro. Paul (center in black) is joined by (L to R) Fr. Jim Stajkowski, M.S., Fr. Ray Cadran, M.S. (Paul’s Director in Chicago), Fr. Phil Negley, M.S., Fr. Gerry Lebanowski, M.S. and Bro. Tony Sepanik, M.S.

Our novitiate team in Washington, DC, welcomed two novices. The novitiate house members pictured below include (left to right): Fr. Flavio Gillio (novice), Fr. Jack Nuelle, M.S. (Assistant Novice Director), Fr. Brian Schloth, M.S. (Novice Director), and Manuel Trey Crespo (novice).

Each year the Feast of Our Lady of La Salette on September 19th is often welcomed by a Triduum (three days of prayer) and accompanied by promises made by our La Salette Associates around the country. Below are two groups of Associates who made their promises during the La Salette Triduum this year.

This is a picture of our La Salette Associates in Enfield, NH and the Lakes Region, with Fr. Phil Negley in the La Salette Shrine Church: (From left to right) Janet Leroux, Lucille Leroux, Lillian Leroux, Dawn Childers, Christine Hodorowski, June Partridge, Ginny Brown, Fr. Skip Negley, M.S., Aimee Gendron, Sharon Markowitz, John Markowitz, Wayne Vanasse, and Arthur Demers.

The second is a picture of our La Salette Associates from the area in and around Attleboro, MA. These La Salette Associates include: Arthur Beckett, Lynne Byrnes, Marina Carpio, Victor Carpio, Mary Jo Crowley, Maryann Daley, Debby Deneen, Joe Deneen, Elaine Fennessey, Katie Higgins, Claire Howard, Liz Johanson, Pauline Macomber, June Mann, Beverly Noelte, Eleanor Perdue, Eugenia Reidemeister, Sally Riconscente, Ann Tremblay, and Mike Tremblay; also our Associates from New Bedford, MA: Leonora L. Carriero, Connie Levasseur, and Vivian P. Oliveira.

And finally on the Holy Mountain of La Salette in France, they celebrated the Feast of Our Lady of La Salette by welcoming a visit from the Papal Nuncio, Most Reverend Luigi Ventura to join in the celebration of the Feast Day Mass and the outside Procession; below (left) are Feast Day Mass concelebrants including the Papal Nuncio, seated in the center; (center) the Assumption statue, where Our Lady disappeared into the air at the conclusion of the apparition; (right) Procession leads from the Basilica to the outside shrine area.

Lastly we thank God for blessing us with the Apparition of Our Lady of La Salette on that Holy Mountain so long ago. We continue to have countless reasons to celebrate the many blessings that have come from that truly graced event.

May God’s own circle of life continue to guide us through the joys and challenges of our ministry of reconciliation as we work to make Mary’s message known to all her people.
