Mary Reaches Out to Us

The last verses of the Book of Proverbs are in praise of the “worthy wife.” Among other things, “She reaches out her hands to the poor, and extends her arms to the needy.”

Mary, Reconciler of Sinners

The Christian people, in an inspired intuition of piety, spontaneously invoked Our Lady of La Salette under the title, “Reconciler of sinners”. Official church documents make no mention of it among the titles it attributes to Mary. Let us, however, listen to what Vatican Council II teaches:

Death of John Paul I - Albino Luciani

A new book discloses details and evidence of the death of Pope John Paul I – who died in 1978 after just 33 days in office – showing his death was the result of a heart attack, as previously held. In the book, called “Papa Luciani: Chronicle of a Death,” Vatican journalist Stefania Falasca presents thoroughly-researched evidence, including previously undisclosed medical reports, witness testimonies and Vatican documents, confirming original reports that the late pontiff died of a heart attack.

No More War

"No more war", not even the current “piecemeal” war, its only fruit being death, "our self-destruction", "young ... thousands, thousands, thousands, thousands ... broken hopes". The American Cemetery of Nettuno, near Rome, where Francis went to celebrate Mass this afternoon on the day the Church dedicates to the memory of the dead, collects the tombs of 7,861 fallen, including an unknown soldier, an Italian-American and a Jew.

The Face of the Reconciler, is to share the message and meaning of the La Salette Apparition for ordinary Christians with practical application to their daily lives. It is considered by many Marian scholars as the most biblical of recent Apparitions and touches upon the basics of the Christian life: an active faith, daily prayer, the importance of the Eucharist, reverence for the Name of Jesus, use of the Lenten habits of faith and finally the call to share her message and that of her Son with all God’s people.

To witness to the Gospel in Asia

This month, the Pope asks us to pray for Asia – an enormous continent where people of diverse religions coexist, and where Christians are a minority. Let us listen to their testimony and learn from their openness to others.

La Salette : A Message and A Mission
spiral border

La Salette was an unknown hamlet lost in one of those giant crevices of the French Alps. Early on September 19, 1846, the two children climb the slopes of the Mount Sous-Les-Baisses, each urging four cows up the mountain. Contrary to their habits, the two children lay down on the grass and fell asleep. The September sun was relaxing and the sky was cloudless. The chattering brook highlighted the mountain stillness. These were quiet moments.

Our Community: The Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette are deeply rooted in the Apparition of Our Lady of La Salette which occurred near the hamlet of La Salette in southeastern France on Sept. 19, 1846. The Missionaries were founded in 1852 by Bp. Philbert de Bruillard, Bishop of Grenoble, France, and presently serve in some 25 countries.

Our Province: The Province of Mary, Mother of the Americas, was founded in 2000 AD and is one of several provinces in the congregation. The members of this Province serve mainly in the countries of Canada, the United States and the Region of Argentina/Bolivia.

Our Mission: Our La Salette ministry of reconciliation responds to the broad vision given by Mary at La Salette as well as in response to the needs of the Church. As reconcilers, we together with the laity take seriously Mary’s mandate: “You will make (Mary’s) message known to all (her) people.”
