Charism of La Salette by Fr. Eugene Barrette, M.S.

france_shrine_bA Search into the Origins and Evolution of the Charism of the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette

by Fr. Eugene Barrette, M.S., June 1975

This study was done to obtain my Licentiate in Spirituality from the Gregorian University. The reaction of a number of community members who read it led me to believe that it would be worthwhile to have it duplicated and made available to those interested. There is little that is new in these pages, but the material has been pulled together and presented in a perspective that is new - the search  for our charism. (Fr. Eugene Barrette, M.S., August, 1976) (PDF file)

La Salette in Perspective by Fr. Harold Clossey, M.S.

This study, originally written by Msgr. E. Garon, M.S., Prefect-Apostolic of Morondava, Madagascar, was translated and adapted by Fr. Harold Clossey, M.S. in 1963. It was recently edited and published by Fr. Ron Gagne, M.S. It contains a brief but thorough explanation of many of the essential elements of the Apparition and background material necessary to appreciate the Apparition and the La Salette Missionaries. La Salette: Authentic Documents

La Salette: Authentic Documents from the end of March 1847 to April 1849

Fr. Jean Stern, Doctor in Theology, archivist of the Missionaries of Our Lady of La Salette in Rome, examines the files of the authentic documents on La Salette in chronological order, of which only bits have been revealed to the public up to this point: the interviews with the witnesses, the reports of the investigators, reactions of pilgrims and the opponents of the Apparition, brochures that were peddled at the time, articles in newspapers, etc.?

The three-volume work of Fr. Jean Stern, M.S. are very complete documentations of the events of Sept. 1846 to the beginning of March 1847. These volumes are written in French but the prefaces have been translated recently into English. They contain wonderful insights into the message and meaning of the apparition for us today.
